How often should my pup be groomed?
It depends!
· Does your pup sleep with you? 2-4 weeks.
· Does your pup have frequent outdoor play and/or love to get dirty? 2-4 weeks
· Is your pup short haired (not requiring a haircut)? Every 6-8 weeks with nail trims every 3-4 weeks.
· Is your pup long haired or has a double coat (Husky, doodle)? Every 4 weeks.
**We have a monthly subscription discount plan where we schedule 4-6 week appts for you and you pay 6 months in advance. We can add teethbrushing, deshedding or any add-ons additional as well as mobile trip fee if you prefer mobile.

What is included in a full basic groom?
Our full basic groom includes a double scrub down bath, nail trimming, and ear cleaning. Haircuts, along with additional touches like deshedding, tooth brushing, paw pad/ nose moisturizing, nail grinding, and others.
What makes Noma & Takoma Pet Services different from other groomers?
Noma & Takoma Pet Services is a local neighborhood company with a personal touch. Texts are answered by the owner directly. We strive to provide excellent service within your budget and a personal touch. Our groomers specialize in senior and special needs pups. We can also groom lightly sedated pups who may be especially anxious.
For mobile services, we arrive to your home and pick up your pup from your door. We groom your pup in our mobile salon, which is equipped with hot water, independent air conditioning and heat, electricity and all tools needed to safely groom your pup.
Do you groom all dog breeds?
Yes! We cater to all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including those that require special handling or are difficult to groom.
What is the cancellation policy for grooming appointments?
We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations to avoid fees.
How much should I tip my dog groomer?
Tipping is optional, but it’s generally appreciated. A 15-20% tip is common for professional grooming services.
Can I drop off my dog and pick up at the end of the day?
No, so sorry! We are one-on-one for the safety of your pup, so we try to keep as few pups on the property to avoid injury, getting dirty, or distractions.
What payment methods do you accept for grooming services?
We accept zelle, venmo, cashapp, apple pay, credit cards, debit cards, and exact cash payments.
Do I need to prepare my dog for a grooming appointment?
Yes, make sure your dog has had some exercise, has been fed and please make sure they use the bathroom before the appointment. This helps keep them calm during grooming and prevents accidents in our salon.
Which vaccines are required?
At least Rabies. Since we are one-on-one, pups have very little if any interaction with other pups.
Can I stay and watch my dog being groomed?
For the safety and comfort of all pets, and for insurance purposes, we cannot accommodate pet parents during grooming.
What if my dog has mats or tangles in their coat?
We handle matted coats carefully. Additional fees may apply for mat removal or shaving. If the coat is severely matted, shaving may be required.
Will my dog be kenneled during the grooming process?
No, we do not have kennels.
How will I know when my dog is ready for pick-up?
We will notify you by text message 20 minutes before your pup is ready for pick-up.
Why does my dog seem tired after grooming?
Grooming can be physically and mentally stimulating. It’s common for dogs to be tired afterward due to handling, bath time, and being alert during the grooming process.
